The Literacy Council of Buncombe County relies on your charitable contributions to support the costs of our student-centered programs. Since 1987, your support has allowed us to expand the number of students served, tutors trained, and staff necessary to maintain our high quality programming.

Because the Literacy Council is a qualified 501(c)(3) organization, your gifts are tax deductible. By donating now, you will ensure that hundreds of lives will continue to be transformed.

Individual Gifts

While 67% of our financial support comes from public and private grants, we also depend on tax-deductible gifts from caring individuals. In fiscal year 2008/2009, individuals contributed over $30,000 in cash to support our programs.

A gift of $20 will provide study materials for one student.
A gift of $100 will provide training manuals for two volunteer tutors.
A gift of $250 will provide enrollment for one person in the Augustine Project which instructs public school teachers in methods to improve literacy levels of their students.
A gift of $675 will support one student and tutor for one entire year.

The Leader’s Circle

We especially want to recognize those dedicated donors who make significant, long term commitments to us. You can become a member of The Leader’s Circle by pledging a minimum of $675 per year for three years. Each spring there will be a special gathering of the Leader’s Circle members. Corporate Partnerships
