Our Programs

Nancy S. Crosby Computer Center

Online study accelerates learning.

We are pleased to offer our students access to computer technology, including software and online reading and ESOL instruction.

The lab consists of six computers generously donated in 2009 by Charlotte Street Computers.   Each computer is connected to the internet, has audio microphone and headphones, and is loaded with several programs:   Rosetta Stone, OpenBook, Berlitz, Side by Side, EASY, Road to Citizenship, and Easy Writer.

Our computer center is located at the Literacy Council offices and is open 50 hours each week, including some evenings. We encourage all students – and especially ESOL students on the waiting list for a tutor – to take advance of the computer center resources.   Not only will you improve your computer skills, but you can quickly advance your reading and language skills.

For information on how to use the computer center, contact either the Adult Education Coordinator or the ESOL Program Coordinator at 828-254-3442.

At the Literacy Council, one size does not fit all.

We meet our students where they are today and tailor our programs to fit individual needs.
